Weight loss of 10 stone is reality for contestant

(From the Richmond & Twickenham Times)

A MAN from Richmond who weighed more than 30 stone took part in a weight
loss reality TV programme so that he and his wife could start a family. Adil Hosgor, of Manor Grove in Richmond, was on Channel Four's Fit Farm for three months and lost 10 stone in total. On the programme, aired last year, nine guests were challenged to get in shape for different reasons. Mr Hosgor joined the show because he and his wife were afraid that if they started a family he might die early of a heart attack because of his obesity and their children would not have a father.

Life coaches, nutrition experts and fitness instructors helped the 36-year-old drop from 30 stone and five pounds to 20 stone. He said: "I had always read personal development books and thought, "why the hell is this not working? Fit Farm gave me the space I needed to think about me."

Now Mr Hosgor, an operations manager with British Airways for 13 years, is
developing his own weight loss plan based on the concepts he discovered while losing weight on Fit Farm. For the EQ plan, which stands for emotional quality, he is writing a book and has already lead the first 12-week course.

Getting into shape naturally is the EQ plan motto. Mr Hosgor said: "It's not about what you eat, it's about how you feel. If you rethink your life goals, it happens naturally. Rewiring your belief system so that you do not say to yourself "I'm lazy" or "I hate my job". It is about visualising the lifestyle that you want then letting the neurons in the brain do the rest. The mind believes that image to be true."

He is taking his time to develop the EQ book and website because he wants
the message to be unique. Saying he is 'three-fourths of the way through', Mr Hosgor still wants to lose six stone to get down to his target weight of 14 stone. Since losing the weight his lifelong symptoms of sleep apnea, which used to wake him up to 100 times a night, have stopped bothering him.
